Some months ago I had a thread about my broken cd-x711. I got it to
work, but only partially. The problem is with the sled that moves the
pickup. It is a linear actuator (or is it called a linear motor?
however it isnt a "motor") type of sled (one coil at each side of
sled). The problem is that the sled only can move out from the center
of the disc, its possible to step forward or choose a track anywhere
forward on the disc, but if you insert a new disc or step a track
backwards you have to move the sled manually back to center or the
specific track. You can however restart a track.

I checked the coils, there is one with a little thicker wire that have
42ohm resistance, the other one with finer wire have 2800 ohm
resistance. Seems a little high?

Anyway, what could the problem possibly be?

Thanks in advance,
Erik
