A family member has a PD-100 DVD player from Apex Digital with a broken switch inside--the one that senses when the disc cover is open. Here is a link to pictures of an identical switch, which senses whether the screen is up or down.

I'd like to buy a replacement switch. Does anyone recognize the logo on the switch, which I would describe as a pigeon-toed letter "M" in a round-cornered box?

Apex is made in CHINA and most other components your best bid is take it out go to radio shack and see if they have a switch with those dimension. THEY ARE PROBABLY MADE IN CHINA TOO.The problem is going to be, is finding out if it is a temporary closure or steady state closure. i would asume a steady closure. good luck.

Many thanks for your prompt and infromative reply!

Let me see if I understand temporary closure and steady state closure with a switch like this. I take steady state to mean, when the plunger goes down and stays down, the contacts close and stay closed until the plunger is released. With temporary closure, when the plunger goes down and stays down, the contacts close briefly and then open, staying open until the plunger is released and depressed again. Is that the idea?

The top of the switch snaps on and off, and I peered inside. Assuming the above definitions are right, it's steady state, as you assumed.
