I've just moved to a house with what looks like a Texecom Veritas R8
alarm panel but I didn't get any instructions. I downloaded them from
the Texecom web site instead. However, the panel is probably around 7
years old and the instructions don't seem accurate now. I can set and
unset the alarm with the code I was told but I can't change the code
or do a walk test. Whenever I follow the instructions to change the
code I enter the existing code, press "Prog" but then I get an error
tone and it doesn't accept the menu code 60 after. Does anyone know
if the instructions for this panel changed and if they did what the
old instructions are or where I can get them please?

Yes the panel versions did change and unfortunately the old version manuals
are no longer available.
I don't have a PDF copy, but if I can find my paper copy I will try to send
it to you.

That would be great, although you'd best post here that you've found
them and I'll try to get in touch with you offline as this email
address doesn't accept mail.

If the alarm is serviced by a local company, get them to reset everything
for you, and they'll also change to coding for you while they're there. If
the alarm is just a DIY installation, then open it up and reset everything
back to factory default, then insert your own engineer and user codes so no
one else knows them. That includes the original installer.

to change your code:

enter existing code.
press prog.
press 60.
enter your new code followed by prog.
press reset

if your panel is a old veritas then slightly different

enter existing code
press 00
press 01
enter new code
press prog
press reset
