Intruder detection using IR/ Laser Beams |

Can anyone recomend any low cost components or products to set up a simple
and discrete IDS for my garden? The total perimeter to be secured is <350ft
in 3 legs 120 ft, 120 ft and 30 ft. I am thinking of a single IR beam about
2 ft above the ground starting at the house reflecting off a 45 degree
mirror twice and returning to a detector but maybe there is a simpler or
more effective alternative I should consider.

I am not so interested in the interfacing to an alarm / security lights but

What types of wildlife do you have in the area? Is the line of sight
between detectors clear of anything which blow in front of them? Would
planting jaggy bushes along these areas be more effective as a deterrent,
rather than trying to catch any activity?
There are lots of things to think about when installing perimeter protection
systems. Mirrors need constant cleaning, especially when fitted outdoors,
so are not a very effective or reliable means of reflecting beams.
Perimeter protection systems are expensive, mainly because they involve many
false alarm protection methods.
A simple tension wire would protect the areas. Anything touching them will
send a signal to a bell or light activation unit. A lot cheaper as well.
Really need more information from you, or pictures even, to give more
suggestions on this. |
