Thanks Peter, looks like the strobe and tamper use the negative, could you
help with the connections below:
Bellbox Galaxy
-------- -------
A(12v) AUX +
B(BELL) Bell
C(TAMP) ????? - can you help?
D(0v) AUX -
S(STRB) Looks like two terminals here
Does the bell need resistors similar to the PIR's and door contacts?
Cheers

C tamp, is the negative return from the sounder.
I can't remember exactly where on the pcb it goes
because it's been that long since I played with one.
Look for a terminal marked -t or -rtn or something.
Sometimes there is a link wire already in it to Ov.
Put your negative strobe trigger in with your bell output.
That way the strobe stops after the bell timer finishes.

|
No. The lid switch will be connected to the sounder's
pcb which in turn gets monitored on the single wire back
to the gal8 which is your negative tamper return (C). |

Hi Peter, there's a solid wire link which links two terminals on the panel -
the one on the left is marked with just a minus sign (not AUX-) which I'm
guessing is the 0v and the one on the right is marked T which looks like the
tamper. From how you've described it does look like the tamper is hard
wired to the 0v so am I right in thinking that the link wire should be
removed when I wire this up?
Thanks again.

Yes, remove that wire link and your
bell tamper will go in the (T).
Nothing will go in the (-).
Some people like to put the bell -ve aux in that one
but I leave it empty. |

Ok but what about terminal D (0v) on the bell box, does that not go anywhere
on the panel 0v or AUX-?
Bellbox Galaxy
-------- -------
A(12v) AUX +
B(BELL) Bell
C(TAMP) T
D(0v) AUX -
S(STRB) Bell
Thanks a lot Peter.

This is correct! You had it right from the off.
Or as I mentioned above, some people like to put
the -ve aux in the terminal adjacent T.
It doesn't really matter. |

Thanks a ton Peter, I've got a Texecom Odyssey 4 coming tomorrow - I've made
sure I've got my ear defenders handy as I'm sure I'm going to screw this up
once at least :)
Thanks again.

Hasn't fallen down yet which is a surprise since it took a bit of nerve to |
get up the ladder in the first place and I didn't want to hang around :)
One question, I can't seem to get the strobe working correctly. It's
supposed to trigger on negative applied and when I connect it to the
negative output it does indeed stobe. I really want to be able to trigger
it from the keypad as this is how to enable the engineer hold-off mode but
I've tried connecting it to the Galaxy as per the diagram but I can't seem
to trigger it when doing the output test.
The diagram points to a particular terminal but this doesn't seem to work
when it's connected.
Any ideas?
Cheers

BTW - similar to the strobe, the bell is activated by negative applied also
and this does work from the output test so I must have the strobe connected
wrongly at the Galaxy panel but I can't figure out which terminal it should
be since the terminal the diagram indicates doesn't seem to work.

Put your strobe trigger wire in with your bell trigger
wire. That way, your strobe will not continue after
the bell has stopped sounding.
The reason for this is;
eg/ You go away for a couple of days and the first day,
your alarm goes off. Your strobe will continue until you
get back!
People will see that strobe going off for days and realise
that no-one is home - and break in! This is why now,
all the major companies do this. |

Hi Peter, that makes a lot of sense.
Just out of interest, I did get the strobe working separately but I had to
put the strobe wire into the PA output and then reassign the PA output to
strobe in the engineers menu but I will now go back to the control panel and
put the stobe in with the bell as you suggest.
Thanks a ton for all your help
Cheers
