I recently bought a Randall T2 guitar amp. I plugged my computer into the effects return to listen to backing tracks on my computer while i play. Today when i turned on the amp there was a humming noise that i beleive is coming from the effects loop now. I tried changing instruments and its still there. The noise itself is fairly low and does NOT increase when the volume is turned up. PLEASE HELP i just spent $3500.00 bucks on it and i cant afford to send it away in the mail as it weighs 80 lbs and im a broke musician.

The amp is a solid state power amp with a tube pre. In theory could i pop out the tube responsible for the effects loop and bypass it or no?

YOU MUST DECIDE WHETHER IS A HUM OR NOISE. Hum usualy is associated with the power supply having ripple on it but or a bypass capacitor overstress. I could also be some kind of feedback to the amplfier itself. With a scope it will be easy to find the hum source. but try this short the input and slowly increase the gain if the hum is constant then has to be ripple. i am sorry but without a road map it is hard to tell.
