Newbie Looking for some help please |

Hi, I am trying to make a box that would have 5 LEDS. Each one would be turned on individualy by 5 separate switchs, and have a sixth switch that would light up all 5 at the same time. Is this possible at all, because I can't figure a way to do it. I can get all 5 leds to light up separately but once I hook up the sixth switch no matter which button I push all the leds light up. I know the problem is in the sixth switch having all 5 leads spliced together, so when one gets charged they all do, but trying to figure out how to make it work if I can at all.. Thanks in advance for you ideas.

| you need isolating diodes in other words diodes conduct ONLY one way. eaqsy to solve this problem but i let you think about it see if you can solve it. DIODES |

Diodes are not going to help you in this case. What you need is a few OR gates. In TTL, I believe it's 7411 or something like that. Now, you might be able to achieve the same thing with several dozen transistors but a simpler, quicker way is to simply use the Digital Application. Neon, If you could possibly think of a way to acheive this same effect with diodes, please PM me and explain. As an Electronics Technician, I haven't yet figured a way using diodes to perform the function of an OR gate in digital logic. Tranistors but not diodes.

| the switches go to ground when closed. at the cathode of the LEDS tie a anode of a diode repeat this five or whatever time you need. next tie all diodes cathode to the 6th switch also going to ground. that should work except you will loose about .6v drive hardly noticeable. you may also tie a bias resistor 5k 10k to LED power to make a nice or gate. you defenetly don't need active gates of any kind as suggested just 5 diodes as i said. |

Oh, I see. Sorry 'bout that neon. Didn't see it that way. ok, i guess you could do that. I guess when it comes to Electronics, I'm a digital head. _________________ GOD BLESS |

| No need to apologyse we all make mistakes, expescialy here where we must asume the other person capability and knowledge. invariably we asume wrong. |
