Panasonic CT27G12V Technical Specs |
|
|
All,
I'm building a DIY Tivo system with a Linux computer output to my TV
(Panasonic CT27G12V). I'm having video problems (jumpy image, image
'rolling' down the screen with the bottom ending up at the top, etc.).
I am looking for the technical specifications for the TV (horz sync,
vert refresh, dot clock) so I can tune my video driver. My owner's
manual does not specify any of these parameters.
Can you please help me track down these specs?
Many thanks,
Charlie

If you are in the US the NTSC Standards will prevail. Otherwise the
specifics for your grographic location. This will include synclevel and
polarity, video levels, etc. Documentation should be able to be located by
googleing a bit.

I agree with your answer, I guess I need to revise my question.... I |
set my video driver to match NTSC specs:
FH = 15.734 KHz
FV = 59.940 Hz
The screen image is occasionally jumpy and often "rolls" down on the
screen so the bottom of the picture is at the top of the screen and
there's a black horizontal line about 1/3 of the way from the top. This
is especially common when playing DVDs from my computer.
So I have two questions:
1. What sort of problem is indicated by the rolling and jumpiness I'm
experiencing? Which factors should I try to adjust?
2. If the NTSC spec is 15.734KHz horz sync, why am I seeing example
specs showing TVs at 30-60 KHz FH? How is this possible if it's not
consistent with the NTSC spec? One forum said I should buy a 100Hz
TV... again, how can the TV not be consistent with the broadcast spec?
Thanks for the help,
Charlie

Poor sync signals, sync signals out of specs, wrong polarity or length of
the actual sync signals, dirty communications compromising the sync signals,
etc. The sync signals, both h/v need to be clean, of the correct polarity,
and of the proper width, plus they must be coupled to the video signals at
the appropriate position relative to the start of each frame. Otherwise you
will experience jittery, jumpy reproduction within the display. Also, any
redundant noise pulses riding on the sync lines going to the set may be
interpreted as additional sync pulses by the processor within the tele, and
produce unstable display. Sam Goldwasher's sites may be of extreme
assistance regarding basic television signal processing.
