Ok so here's the deal. In short, I am looking for a DVR - preferably with a dvd burner. Why would I pay for tivo's subscription fee, when I could get something like the Pioneer DVR-533HS that has a burner and an internal hard drive with no subscription required.

Basically what I'm asking is whether or not it is worth it to buy tivo, or just get a stand alone dvr, and why does tivo have a monthly service fee when the other machines don't seem to. I would greatly appreciate some advice if anyone has any to give.

that machine has a h/drive in inside the dvd-r has none it needs acomputer to the the work. i ruther have a computer then a can of worms it only doe one thing. you decide now
