Looking for some 41256 dynamic ram (256K x 1) IC's in UK. |
|
|
Hi,
Does anyone (preferably in the UK) have surplus to requirements, or
know of a source of, around 50 of the old 256K x 1 dynamic RAM's such as
the Texas TMS41256 and other manufacturers' equivalent products?
If so, please e-mail me with details and price required.
TIA - Dave Chapman

I think I still have a pair of RamPage AT memory cards
somewhere in my old stuff that were loaded with the
things. If you can't find anything on your side of
the pond... |

Insofar as modern memory chips are faster, smaller in size,
and of greater capacity, would it not be a straightforward
matter to create a daughter board together with appropriate
glue logic in an FPGA that would plug into the (18-pin?) DIL
sockets?
That way, you're future support problems would be eased. I
mean, if you've got equipment that old that still needs support, then
the chances are that it will still need support another 10 years
down the line and then you'd have a route to guarantee that
future support.

I have over 150 (?) unused TMS41256 DRAMs, but I'm in Australia.

I think 41256s were so common at the time that there will always be enough around to maintain old
systems.
A quick search for 41256 at www.findchips.com shows many hundred thousands stock.
I don't recall there being any significant difference in specs between makers |

Many thanks to all those nice people who responded to my posting,
particularly those who offered batches of IC's.
I now have more than enough 41256 devices to meet my particular
requirements.
