| Quote: | Dear All,
Has anyone used the GMBH DEM 16217 SYH LCD display ?
|
I haven't used this particular display, but I expect it is based on
the Hitachi HD44780 uC.
| Quote: | The display has 16 pins labelled L+, L- and 1 to 14
|
L+ and L- are probably the backlight power pins - could be LED or
electroluminescent.
Pins 1 through 14 would be the data and control pins. If the LCD
module uses pinned chips rather than an epoxy blob, then a continuity
test will confirm the pinout. For example, locate the HD44780
datasheet and trace the ground pin from CPU to interface connector.
Pins 15 and 16 probably connect to L+ and L-. A continuity check
should confirm this also.
| Quote: | The datasheet describes pins numbered 1 to 16.
Can some kind soul tell me how the two descriptions relate before I connect
the power the wrong way round ?
|
Note that, although these modules appear to follow some loose industry
standard (pins 3 through 14), they may differ in supply polarity (pins
1 & 2 may be reversed).
