My YAMAHA DRX-I DVD recorder can no longer read and play DVDs but still reads and plays VCDs and AUDIO CDs.What could be the problem?.EARNESTLY IN NEED OF ADVICE.

Are sure that those DVD are coded for for your are 1 is USA trying to read a different code it will not do it.All dvd players have software inbedde into the guts sometimes it may need manufactures updates.

Thanx for the reply.I LIVE IN REGION 2 and My yamaha drx-1 dvd recorder is factory tuned to region 2 also.I suspect the lens is weak that is why it no longer reads DVD discs.But as I said earlier it only reads and plays VCRs and audio CDs.I believe that the lens need replacement. If you know the part number for the lens,PLEASE LET ME KNOW so I can order it.But if you have another suggestion to help me restore it I WILL BE GLAD TO HEAR ALSO

late sorry clean the DVD with amonia and water. DO not clean in circles but ruther from center to rim. done that buy a dvd cleaner disk. It usualy has hair brushes and let clean the LED. nice to know code 2 is in SWEEDEN was there once in lynchoping SCANIA nice town. Well try that.
