I'd like to make my own current sensor, this is to detect if an electrical appliance's status, if it's turned on or off.. and then have an output to transfer to an MCU

I need help on making one, that is simplier.

WHY current not voltage are you rying to make difficult or what. measure voltage easyer and believe me if there is no voltage there is not going to be any current. WHY measure it just connetc from the ac 120v a 12k resistor in series with an LED and see what is on.
