Please help with design...Auto Amplifier |
|
|
I would like to build an amplifier for my car. I want it to have three inputs, all headphone jack ports. I want an on/off switch, volume control and three buttons to switch between the three inputs. It would have to be stereo out for two front speakers and two rear speakers and run on 12vDC. Niceties would include LED "power on" light and LED lights over the input buttons to show which is selected.
The inputs are for Satellite radio, MP3 player, and portable DVD player. I would like to have enough volume to be able to hear the speakers at 55 MPH with the window down.
Any help I can get with this would be greatly appreciated.

| My advice to you is buy it. By the time you can put all this together and make work it will be months and I ruther think not price efective either. But as a try as hobby look up national semi for amps. You may have to boost the 12 v to higher volts to get lots of power. |

Neon...thanks for the reply.
I don't really care how long it takes and to the best of my knowledge, what I'm looking for doesn't exist. Cost is not an issue. If it was, I would buy a $50 stereo with a headphone jack input like I used to have. All I need is for someone who knows how, to help me design it. I can buy the parts and put it together. Hopefully, that someone will see this post and take pity on me. Cheers

You have decisions to make
1] how much power ?
2] type class A.D?
3] mustr run on 12v?
4] add ext. power supply?
i would sugest lm4700 family but you will need external P.S. which is not a big problem. with 30 w dissipation/chanel plus P.S. dissipation that is 12.5 amps out of the battery or generator worst case make sure that that is feasable for your car. Must design worst case to make sure that it will be ok. Your car normal running drain is probaly about 7 amps which comes from generator you add a load to the generator make sure it can handle the surge and load. The cost for parts electronics not much.I sugest you install the unit in the trunk kids like tio steal things like that. just add the control into your car console. |
