I am installing a Day Time Running light module with Auto on by GM.
It wants me to use the headlights as the DLR. The DLR line is coming out at 9 VDC.

I was told that if I want to run the High Beams instead of the Low Beams, that I need the Voltage to be 7.5 to 8 VDC. (I think this is due to the heat from the bulbs)

What is the best way to bring the voltage down? (The lights will draw 130 watts at 12 VDC)

Thanks for any Help
David

You could use build a mosfet switching circuit that supplies a rms voltage of 8-9v. But it sounds like a single one time application. Just use a bunch of $2 relays and set them up so the headlights are in series for running light operation, then switch to parallel during high beam operation. You should be able to do this circuit with 1 DPDT relay.

I don't realy know but it doesn't sound right. it could be that when the lights are on the voltage maybe 8 volts because of IR drop. on my car all lamps are 12 volts. I dont like the idea of CMOS drivers for this application but it is up to you. I would use an LM117 regulator instead and i would use it as a current source since the load is passive.
