Need help identifying component from a HP 704 CRT monitor. |

Hello everyone, I've got some components that I'm having trouble identifying. The pictures are here.

They look like capacitors, however I do not have a schematic for the monitor (which I've been trying to find to no avail). I'm basically playing with the monitor to appease my own curiousity and to learn, and if I'm unable to fix it, it'll be stripped for the capacitors/heatsinks/etc. By the way, I have in fact already discharged the main capacitors. I'm being very careful. Thanks in advance.

Hello, and thanks for the reply. After a bit of searching I found that the components I was trying to identify are enameled inductors. There is infact a bulging capacitor, unfortunately I don't have another to swap at the moment. If I put in an order for parts, I'll probably grab one of those too. The monitor was made in 2004, so it's relatively new. The monitor powered up when I found it, but roughly 5 minutes later it started to hum and blow white smoke from the monitor. I promptly shut it off and have since been trying to find the cause. If anyone has any more input to add, it'd be greatly appreciated. Thankyou.

| if you do not replace that capacitor it will never work. capacitors are like women they work and when they stop they suck you dry. meaning they suck outside moisture and causes problems best way is to leave electronics grear on at all time if you can afford it a tv in sleep mode you can afford it |
