I have a Panasonic FS100 SVHS Video recorder, with a problem. Programs
recorded in SVHS don't play well, while VHS is ok. I've heard of
chip
that needs changing, so any idea where I can get one, what its called?
-
That's an old one! I have got an FS200 at home which is the mode
which
came after it.
Please describe what you mean by "don't play well"

Tim, After about 20 minutes of playing, the picture starts rolling
colour fads to B&W and then disappears, with only sound playing. I ca
replace an SVHS tape with a VHS one, which plays fine, but SVHS abou
20mins. I did read somewhere else on the web about the need to replac
an I.C. I have the skills to do it, but not sure which chip, or wher
to find a replacement, hard I am sure

That isn't one of the (several) problems I've had. It sounds like a heat
related problem.
I would suspect a problem in the power supply. The power supplies run
very hot in these units which tends to dry out the electrolytic caps.
Try replacing the all the electrolytic caps in the power supply module,
there are not that many.
