hi all, have this computer intel pentium 111 processor,644 mhz 288 mb ram
with windows xp make micron. problem is for the last two weeks when i go to
start turn off computer it take about five minute before it shut down would
like to know if anyone have had tis problem and if so how can i correct this
problem? thanks in advance.

This isn't really the best group for this, sounds like a software problem. I
would start by trying a spyware removal program and a virus scanner then go
from there.

Usually should be 20 seconds. Check with the maker.

644MHZ with XP, good luck, I am surprised that the thing has not been slow
the whole time. Go online and download system mechanic and go through all
their optimization stuff. I personally feel that over time systems collect
garbage from everywhere and need to be re-imaged, that is wipe everything
out and start over. I you do decide to do that install windows 2000 and
enjoy a much faster system.

Given 256MB or more RAM, 500MHz is actually enough for XP to run
smoothly.

My experience has been that windows 2000 is slower, especially on boot
and shutdown, but that may depend on the way it is used (e.g. in a
domain).
