Such a laser is a menace to humanity and will definitely blow a hole
clear through your retina.
I know nothing about lasers, but would think that 200mW also
hurts/stings on normal skin, when hold still.
120mw of green does, at least at fairly close range. I'd be very hesitant to
play around with 200mW and I've been messing with lasers for years.

I don't know how much power the laser designator puts out, but some guy
once showed me where he'd burned his name into a card with one. =:-O
Cheers!

That's what I'm hoping for, at least in my case. My
spot lingered for a month or two before disappearing.
I used to be able to see it by covering my left (undamaged)
eye and forcing myself to stare at a something white (the
wall) a couple of feet away and blinking hard. It would
appear briefly after each blink.
Though I have reconcilled myself to perhaps having some
permanent damage, it's hopefully just minor - 'cosmetic' -
certainly nothing as bad as Doug had to endure. The fact
the eye doctor could see no obvious damage hopefully
means it's not bad. This helped put my mind to rest.
And yes I'll be much more careful in the future. I want to
avoid taking anymore divots out of my retina. :(

This isn't by any chance the same laser that the FAA is looking for?
