One character in the movie, a dwarf, wasn't at all bright or clever. That's
right. Dopey !!! Well Dozzy is the Scottish slang word that means someone
just like Dopey. A new phrase is also being entered in the English
language. "Paul the Belgian Plonker" is the phrase, which also has the same
meaning as being like, or pertaining to, being Dozzy.

HEH!!! Do you pronounce it dough-zee or dooozzzee-zey? I know the

American (me) taking you to lunch if I'm in the area? I would like to get

this
"Redcare" business.
I'd really like to say a definite "yes" to that offer of meeting you Graham,
but I do an awful lot of travelling myself, my friend. I'm kept constantly
on the move by work, all over the world, from one years end to the next, so
I can never say when or where I'm going be, at any given time in any given
week, or even any given day.
|
Do you ever travel to the USA.... the state of Texas, specifically?
| Quote: | So I'm going to say a definite "Maybe" on the
offer, and when you get closer to your departure time, give me a shout in
the group, which I always scan through, and we'll see if we can arrange a

That would be great. I see you're in Edinburgh, Scotland. I've always wanted
to visit my homeland. My grandmother is Irish - Is that close enough?
| Quote: |
Now the easy bits. Alarm systems in Europe are just as bad or as good as
they are anywhere else, my friend. It's the people using them that differ
enormously between places. I find anyway.
RedCare is just a comms' system like any other. The only difference with
RedCare is that it's payable through British Telecom. They used to be the
monopoly in the UK's telecommunication business. Now that BT have become a
competitor like everyone else now, they don't have the same clout they used
to. RedCare was, at one time, the one and only recognised alarm
communication system in the UK. After privatisation, under Mrs Thatcher's
government, the other companies which could provide the same services, with
the same equipment standards, came along and put RedCare in the same light
as the rest. It's really just another one of the many response systems now.
Nothing fancy. Although the die diehards here will say it's still the best,
I have used many of the others and had nothing but the same responses that I
got with using the RedCare system.
|
I've heard from this group that RedCare is actually a system that monitors the
line, much like a leased line we have in the USA. Those are rare here. The
telecom companies do not offer a security package like BT does. We have leased
lines, called "T1's", but they are very expensive (a leased pair of copper).

According to him, all you have to do is phone the alarm receiving centre.
They'll give out all his details for free without interference or anything
from the manufacturers to tell them any different. LOL !!! Couldn't resist
that urge to be him for moment.. :-) Aaaahhhhh!!!! I'm cracking, slowly
but surely, but I'm cracking. The voices are now telling me to kill, but
I'll keep resisting them for as long as I can. Where's my tin foil hat?

I'm in New Quork, sorry York, and, My favourite place in the world, Las
Vegas, Nevada quite a bit in my travels. I do quite a lot of sub-contract
work for the security teams in both places.

My Mother was also from Irish decendancy, so I guess that is as close as you
can get. We're all Celts are heart.

The leased line thing is just a simple ping system to test the line every so
often. It's nothing really fancy. We now have a two path method of comms
here that sends through the landline system and the General System for
Mobile Telephones (GSM), which will confirm an intrution on either path if
one or other is compromised. The telecoms people are now setting up these
systems as standard now, so they are all in the same business of providing
secure comms' down to the receiving centres now. As I say, their nothing
fancy anymore.

Yessir !!! You get your beauty sleep bigman. I'm not long back from the
middle east, so I'm still awake from the lag in time from the trip back. It
will probably hit me later tomorrow and I'll fall asleep in the middle of a
meeting. :-) But that not un-usual for me. Everyone is getting used to me
doing that. LOL !!!
Speak soon. |
