Engineers or managers code on galaxy 8? |
|
|
Hi,
My place has a galaxy 8 installed and (was) monitored by ADT. The alarm was
connected to and monitored by ADT under the the previous owners. ADT tell
me its basically going to cost me a fortune to get the alarm put in my name
and monitored (which i dont want). All i want is a stand alone system that
i can arm and unarm for peace of mind. I can arm and unarm the system by
using the code 1234 (which i found just by playing), but this is a user
code, not a manager code so i can't access any of the higher functions such
as code change, time / date set etc. Is there any way i can reset the
system to the default engineers code or managers code and what will these
codes be?
Thanks in advance
Dave

Sorry Sir, but you'll have to ask ADT to remove the system from the monitoring
first before you decide to make it stand alone. You still have links to ADT
that need removed first.
Anyone who tells you how this is done in a newsgroup, is not to be trusted if
they are in the business of security. We don't know you, or that really do have
the system fitted in your house. If someone tells you how to reset the alarm
system, you could then compromise the system of someone else's house and break
in.
You really have to ask ADT for their help on this. |

You could get another Alarm Company to to do the work for you if you dont
want ADT, BUT first make sure with ADT that the equipment is actually yours
and not the property of ADT.
If it is ADTs property you have to decide whether to stay with ADT or have
another company Install a new system for you.
If you go for the latter the new company may be able to install using the
original cabling which could reduce cost and disturbance to decor. then
inform ADT that their equipment is ready for collection. (Be wary of ADT
disconnecting it themselves as they could cut cables so short as to make
them unusable).

If you purchased the property you would do better to check if the system was
included in the sale ie fixtures and fittings, if it is listed tell ADT to
get on to the people they sold it too in the first place and then get
whoever you like in! |

ADT versions of the Galaxy PCB's have the engineer codes locked in, we had
to change a PCB on a 500 a while back to get over this problem.
