Hi folks,
I've got my Galaxy 8 up and running on a test bed with resistors on all
zones but would now like to get it running with PIRs (after all I'd like to
use it as an alarm at some point). I have 6 core alarm cable already
installed in my house.
OK so for arguments sake lets say:
Colour Assigned
red positive
black negative
Blue/Yellow switch
green/white tamper

Now since I've wired the panel with resistors I can see the there's a common
connection between any two zones and I'm guessing that this will be either
the blue or yellow connection. Does it matter which?
The other question is where the tamper cables go - I'm guessing it's to the
tamper loop? There's already a closed loop on the panel I can remove.

Thanks for any help

Dave

Dave you will need to use two 1K resistors per pir
Take the blue wire and put it into the alarm contact with one leg of a
resistor
put the other leg of the resistor into the other alarm contact along with
another 1K resistor (effectively paralleling the resistor across the alarm
contact)
you will now have one resistor leg left , this goes into the first contact
of the pir tamper and the yellow will go into the other contact of the
tamper
you can connect them any way you want back at the panel

This means when the pir is not in alarm the panel will read the 1K resistor
through the tamper switch and back to the panel as the alarm switch is
shorting out the resistor
when it is in alarm both resistors are in series and will read 2k this is an
alarm to the galaxy panel
If the tamper is opened the panel will show tamper alarm at a resistance
above 12K as the series circuit is broken

Good luck
