Hi folks,

I've got two strikes on electronix so far. The first unit they shipped
had a bad laser. I plugged in the old unit and the laser worked. The
next unit had a missing mount. The broken piece was nowhere to be
found. Real cheap shipping, no bubble wrap or peanuts. I put in for
another replacement and requsted better S & H. I should get it in
a few days.

Thanks for sticking with me! :D

I have encountered the same problem on the same model. I have replaced the pickup assembly (and removed the solder short), but the issue persists exactly as before.

Mark, or anyone else, can you walk me through the setup menu? Also, if this doesn't fix the issue, I would like to replace the fish caps, if someone wouldn't mind elaborating.

I have the service manual, but not enough true electrical testing knowledge to be able to trace the problem.

Thanks for ANY help I can get! Smile
Chris

SONY was a good manufacture of electronics but thanks to china where it is manufacture these days it makes it not a good buy for the extra money for the name. while the motor has sometimes bad spots also the cheap dvd thickness has a lot to do with it. some CD-DVD the cheap kind are manufactured with less plastic to save money and that casuse the mechanism not to recognize that even a disk is installed. fujii film for instance make such DVD.
