Akai AC-300 Audio Sys. won't power on from Stby. |
|
|
Hi there, I have two of these Akai AC-300 audio systems, both have the
same fault. The unit is in standby mode, display is dimm as in sleep mode.
I have tested the power tact switch, and tried turning on with the remote,
but won't turn on. Have no manual, and Akai is no longer in NZ.
Please help with any info.
Much appreciated.
Joe.

This sounds like a failure in the power supply. From my experience, I have
had defective electrolytic caps in the supply cause what you are having.
These Akai systems can be serviced by Akai, they have not been easy to have
service information or parts, when the warranty is over.
Considering the age of these, and their actual value, I would be looking for
something new, and having a descent warranty with local warranty service. As
for all of these low cost systems, after the warranty is finished, it is
time to get a new one. Parts and service support is really non existent.

Thanks for your info, repair is mostly economical, if you know what you are
doing.
Cheers.

See if your audio output section is blown. It may be in protection
mode because of DC voltage in the output area. |
