Hello,

Does anybody know what these things should be:

http://cjoint.com/?epvF4b55Hd
http://cjoint.com/?epvGJibcrN
?

(the size is about 11mm in diameter/square side)

I guess these are some photo-diodes or such, but for what spectrum, of
what sensitivity, primary application, ...?

Thank you.

11mm is pretty big.

The black-top one is almost certainly for IR, probably (although not
guaranteed) to be the detector.

The transparent one may be an IR emitter.

Stick 'em in a breadboard and look at the current through them change
as you turn on and off the lights. But remember that even the emitters
work as detectors :-).

Tim.
