The remote for my Panasonic DVD-S27 is the first I've seen that won't
bounce off walls or even mirrors to control the unit. I'd like it to do
that because it's set up behind the viewing couch next to a projector
for a short cable run. The batteries are brand new. Could its
particular type of infrared LED be the problem, and could it be changed
with no ill effects? I'd prefer not to attach an infrared booster
unless I have no other choice. Thanks.

What are the advertised range and maximum angle of the remote? Perhaps
your reflected path is just too long or your mirror is not angled
properly.

Try a universal remote?

Try a universal remote?

That would be my last option since there are a lot of unit-specific
functions for this DVD player.

Perhaps
your reflected path is just too long or your mirror is not angled
properly.

I've tried all possible angles, even putting a mirror just a foot away
with the total distance being about two feet. I only need to reflect
off a projector screen (and/or wall) 12-15 feet in front of the sitting
position and that's effortless for my other remotes.

Perhaps the receiver PD is a narrow angle? Did you try other remotes?
