I have been out of the electronics feild for a long so my memory is way past fuzzy on the proper way to draw a scematic (or spell for that matter)

I have an item that moves in two directions, ir distance sensors place at either end and distance display box. When sensor reads .01" (or whatever i need distance to be) direction of travel stops in that direction. still able to travel in other direction.

Any help to come up with a wiring diagram/scematic would be greatly helpfull

attach to the part moving a photocell or a INFRARED LED that will trigeer a circuit what i don't know an LM555 is good for it speed up to 1mhz. YOU SEE the help is limited because HOW FAST DO YOU WANT I?WHAT HAS TO MOVE A MOTOR AT WHAT SPEED There are many questions un -answered because i don't have the info.
