Hello, i have a radioshack power supply book that i built an adjustable power supply from. The voltage regulator that it calls for is a LM-317T. Now thats all fine and dandy, but it has a really low current handling abbility. Does anyone know of a volt reg that is of the same family, but has a higher current rating?

Thanks

A LM317 IN DIFFERENT PACKAGE CAN HANDLE 3 AMPS OUTPUT. BUT WHAT YOU HAVE IS FINE FOR 1.5 AMPS.NEED MORE JUICE THEN YOU NEED TO ADD A BY-PASS TRANSISTOR TO HANDLE MORE CURRENT. THAT IS REALY NOT HARD TO DO. PLENTY OF INFO ON HOW. DO NOT FORGET POWER DISSIPATION WHEN INPLEMENTING EXTRA POWER.
