Can any one tell me the answer to this one please.

I have a 12v water pump rated at 7 amps and somewhere along the line it melted my fuse and its holder, I took a current reading and it read 2.22 on the meter?

Can anyone tell me what type of fault I have with the pump.

Thanks guy's

you have must encounter a fault sustainable for a while . I am suspicious of where the location though fuse supposed have blown before any damage. check the ohms across the fuse location make sure there is no extra ohms hanging in there to cause heat generation at that particular location. is there a cluctch on this pump? myne has a clutch and the solenoid could be defective while the pump is OK.

The pump belongs to a friend of mine, and it does sound like he's had this problem for a while, there is no clutch on the pump just a pressure switch, and I don't think this would affect it.

The fuse is located right by the pump.

I will get him to check the ohms across the bit of fuse holder thats left.

Many thanks.
