Hi mates
i have got an MP3 player flash memory.
i want to build an amplifier to use it in my car (12v) , i have one now but very weak, and the sound is not clean, 10 watts based on TDA2004 IC.
could i build a better one, say 50 watts or more, is it possible ?
which IC should i use ?? i have 4 ohms speakers, the amplifier i have now produces a sound with no bass at all, i think 50 watts would produce a bit of bass in the sound.

please help.

things about power cannot be attained by increasing power directly from a 12v system. actualy you can vuy such blasters to the point that local police will gladly give you a ticket for disturbing the peace. if it sound crazy to you think again it is real.I have 1000w power amp in my house system but a 1-2 watts is all i can bear to hear in real power. efficiency of speakers has to do with that. boost at the low ends can easily be achieved by boosting the low frequency. finaly are you sure you want this thing as it stand right now your hearing at ~400 cycles is notch by nature your brain automaticaly notch OUT your car engine noise ~400 music that loud that close will make your hearing defective eventualy.take care.

the amplifier i have now which is based on TDA2004 IC is producing 10 watts, and i made it just as shown in the data sheet, without volume control, the volume control is the mp3 one.
when i drive at high speed the i can't hear the sound clearly, even at maximum volume of the mp3.
i don't need, or even like the too high sounds, but a bit louder sound, even with the same quality of the current audio IC.

the other problem is, if i got an amplifier, will it produce a good sound when you know that the mp3 player output is 0.5w ???

you have a problem that i cannot define in my mind if there is a problem your player is .5w to boost that up to hi volume i am afraid you will need higher voltage so the speaker can respond to it means a DC-DC converter even this amplifier if inplemented with higher voltage will provide better sound quality. at 12v or whatever the battery is at the time can only do so much before clipping and you are asking massive current output 5 amps at that level even wireing size comes into play that is why a good auto amp have dc-dc converters to boost voltage to cut down low voltage requirement to the speakers 100v at .1amp is 10w or 10 v 10amps =10w. which is better? both the same except the LATER speakers now have more dynamic voltage range.

Thanks mate, i will try to search for an amplifier, but i wondered how do they make units which is produce 50watts in sony or clarion or so ?!

the mp3 player is really .5w i read it in the spicifications sheet.

i have not imagined that the issue is very complicatd like that, i though i can change the audio IC with another high watt one, that's all, but is it much much more complicated even for me as a hobbyest!

i thought that i explained to you by increaing the voltage lets say 12v to +/- 60v read my previous reply. actualy an old tube amp surpass in sound quality as opposed to a transistorized amp because of the dynamics of voltage swings. and like it specified a .5w is plenty enough for normal people rock bands that pushes 1000w whereby you can see ripple on your drink is totaly harmfull to your hearing

i have read your posts, but how can half a watt drive a car speaker??
0.5 watts are enough when using earphones, but when you connct the mp3 player to a car speaker the sound will be very low !

i think it is too difficult to solve for me at least.

speakers are made with difference efficency that how. besides manufatres allways never tell you the truth. rating is in peak power some RMS so unless you know all that is meant is consusing for a layman. take care
