Hi:
I am wondering what is the difference between the old phone line and the new one. I found out that the old phone line only has 2 pins, red & geen, but the new one has 4 pins.
Are there a diagram to compare them? I want to know which one is gnd, data, and pwd

| I am assuming you are talking about the pins in a telephone cord plug. The red and green are for the first line, yellow and black for the second line. You are right, there used to be only red and green. That was when families had only one number in the house. The yellow and black was added to give families capability of more than one line. Today, standard wiring is in twisted pairs of blue, orange, green, brown, and slate. This gives the house capability of 5 lines coming into the house, thus 5 numbers..... ie, fax, phone, internet, kids line, etc.... |
