Alright this is what im trying to do. I want to make a circuit that will arc an electric spark across two terminals. Basically I have two 1/4 screws that are placed 1/4 apart and I want and electric spark to arc across them. I took apart a camera because I thought that I might be able to use the flash circuit to do it. The only thing is I would much rather make a circuit from scratch to do this. I am a sophmore computer engineer and did take circuits but am not really sure what this would take. Do I just need to run some power to a large capacitor and then have a switch to discharge it across the terminals? Im just not sure how much voltage there needs to be to create a spark. I have a 330V 180 micro F capacitor. Would this be enough? Also on the camera there is an led that lights up when its charged, how does this work?

every body has a car ever thought to use a coil an LM555 in its primaryyou will get your spark without destroying cameras. junk yards have millions of those things. LM555 is $0.50 put a diode in the primary otherwise good by lm555 or biuld yourself an ac pump to 5kv not much power but it will spark OR BUY A CHEAP $7.00 CHINESE MADE bowl with the sparking insidea glass. that will not kill you but a spark with enoigh current will do it for sure.BE CAREFULL BE VERY CAREFULL. GOOD LUCK. I THINK YOU WANT THIS FOR ION GENERATION. 330V 180UFD IS A KILLER DO NOT USE IT. LIMIT THE CURRENT SO THAT YOU CAN SURVIVE THE SHOCK IF TOUCHED.
