Hi Guys
I don't know if anyone can help me with this one, But I need a circuit diagram that when a sensor is moved say within 6-8'' of a window it will activate a relay,
I was thinking may-be a car reversing sensor might work, but the distance on these are to great, there in the range of 1.5 meters and I only need a distance of 6-8 inches and up to a voltage range of 12v. any help from the experts will be fantastic.

Thanks Guy's

a photocell can do that calibrating and sensitivity maybe tricky.

But wouldn't a photocell be tricky altogether under different ambient conditions? if not would it be possible to add a variable resistor to adjust its sensetivity when needed?

Magnetics are more definite however the sensitivity will change as the square of the distance. Make the photocell detect withing a window of operation.

Ah! Thanks neon

But I feel I did not explane myself properly in my original thread, when I said a window, I actually meant a window (glass) this is the reason for my first reply about the ambient light conditions, Hope you can still help

Kind regards

Jeff.

photocell will stil work acualy you can buy for $20 and modefy it to your liking. IT will probably say motion detector but it is a photocell. even a simple garden lamp would work if you bock the light but still must be modified for your application.
