led sequencer circuit |
|
|
Hello all,
I am new to this forum and I hope this question/dilemma hasn't been
discussed before.
I have a basic led sequencer schematic (using a 4017 and 555 ic),
that I want to incorporate in my car for a visual theft warning. In short, I
want to use it as either a stand alone "dummy" theft deterrant device
and/or as an auxiliary visual theft warning system.
Basicall I want it to work like this:
I can activate it via a remote control and it will function as a normal
9 channel led sequencer. I would like to put some kind of contacts under
the door handle so if an individual were to lift the handle, all 9 lights would light up at the same time. Then when the individual would
release the handle, it would go back to its normal chaser light mode.
When I deactivate the alarm, I want to have all the lights come on at
the same time once again. ( I forgot to mention that I would be using
a dual led. Red for when it's activated, and green when it's deactivated).
The basic chaser light schematic I am going by can be found at
http://ourworld.compuserve.com/homepages/Bill_Bowden/page5.htm
I hope this won't be too involved and someone can help me with
the design of the circuit I need.
Thanks in advance!!!!!!
Craig

| To that is a bad idea. ever walk by close to a car and it sounds a warning you to keep away that scared me and made me mad. If I was a kid i would have scratched the car because of it. same with lights or LEDS and LEDS are not real visible in the full sun. Now you take the same LM555 timer and use at one shot and disable the igntion for 5 minutes that will stop the car and the thief will flee and leave the car alone. That is preventing as suposing alarming.THINK about that for a second. |

It is only meant to be used as a visual theft detterant. The led's will be
mounted in the center of the dash visible to a potential theif.
You have me a bit confused as to why a "visual" auxiliary alarm would
prompt someone to vandalize my vehicle.

| I mean not a visual but an alarm that loudly scream at you. GET AWAY FROM THIS VEHICLE as you pass by to put your grocery in your car. It does not decsriminate between close and touching it. It scare people and that makes you mad. Lets face it if I WANT your car i am going to get your car lites or no lites. The only way is to make it inpossible to start even by shorting wires like in the movie. 5 15 minutes delay for ignition ON is not a deterent is a fact. think of it a thief sitting in your car for 5 or 15 minutes trying to start the car he will give up and steal someone else. the trick if finding the go ahead switch. of course i know where mine is.And every body got something for antitheft and nobody cares about flashing lites and car honking that is a fact. to busy you know. AND LEDS in the day time are ineficient as lights and think of the damage there is by ripping off your dashboard to get rid of LEDS. i say before i say it again bad idea. |

I was not asking for anyone's "opinion" on why I want this or if it is a
bad idea.
I was asking if someone can help me with designing this circuit.
As far as someone taking my car, I know full well that if a thief wants it
they will get it. That's just common sense. That doesn't mean that
I should forget about designing my car the way I want.
Any how I can and will figure out some pratical anti-theft additions (i.e.
starter disable, vehicle tracking etc).
The bottom line is, ( and I am not saying this in a nasty way), if you
can't help me with my project, then don't reply to it. |

| Yes what you want is basic. But i don't see any use for it so good luck. |
