im vary new to this but going to learn. so if i could ask some one that knows about pmg alternator and building it your self . why a donut coil ? is the shape important? I know the wire size and winding shoud be. ok here is the big one. can i you use a ring like a big washer 12 inch circuler with it cut out in middle leaving a two inch ring 1/2 thick for a stator and making that as i rap it with wire ooo like two inches for each coil so many raps as requierd. so you would end up with wire raped around this ring for the magnets to pass over . ther would be two disk with magnets on both sides of the ring. any ideas or is this a waste of time help o i made the ring out of steel strapping coiled it tell i got a two inch ring out side 12 inchs
