I have set of Yamaha YST 201 2.1 speakers which have been good for a while until recently when the one speaker stopped working properly. First, i should let you know that the speaker in question(right) has a pot which turns the unit on and controls the volume of the whole set. I've done a number of things to try and determine the problem, but have not discovered anything yet. The first thing i tried was to swap the left and right speakers out in case the speaker itself was damaged. Then i took everything apart and tested continuity between the circuitry on the right speaker and the preamp in the sub enclosure. Nothing really seemed wrong there, but without a schematic i cant be sure what to look for. I believe the problem lies within the pre-amp and not the speaker because it has a fairly simple board and everything looked normal, plus the pot on the speaker still correctly controls the volume of the left speaker and the bass. There is still output in the right speaker, but it is barely audible.

Does this sound like a capacitor issue? And if so how do I isolate it? Otherwise, what else could cause this sort of problem?
