It says in the specs that the gain varies from 20 to 200 depending on the capacitor across pins 1 and 8. So what would the gain be if i placed a 10 microfarad capacitor? How can I compute for the gain? Can somebody pls give me the formula? Is the gain stable coz I tried testing it and it varies...does the gain really behave that way?

the capacitor if installed 10 mfd actualy ac bypass an internal 1,35k resistor which changes the gain from 20 to 200 or a gain 46 db. formula why bother put a variable resistor in series with the cap and adj. there you go instant volume control.
