Hi , having a 12-Cell Lithium Ion Battery that goes on a NEC laptop.

The battery doesn't keep the charge for a long time. Are they repairable ?

Only if your fire and medical insurance is paid up and you know where the
nearest fire station and emergency room are. :)

In short, no.

These should be replaced. This revival thing about batteries is not reliable
and safe.

The article fails to mention that many batteries have charging /
metering electronics in them, and that sometimes these fail instead of
the batteries. Repair and replacement of the electronics is a bit
more.....trouble.

That's not been my experience. When you remove power from the
electronics, the battery monitor chip can't be reset without
knowing what to do or having the right software. I've managed a couple
that used chips that have data sheets. Most have been dismal failures.
Good cells that still won't run the computer.

If the pack is still alive, some have reported success by wiring up a
bunch of power supplies and replacing the cells "hot".
