I have an LCD module (Optrex DMC16204N-LR-B) with 15 pins of 2mm pitch,
and I have to connect it to a 0.1" pitch solderless breadboard. Does
anyone know what kind of adapter cable I can use? I searched the Mouser
catalog but was presented with many unfamiliar options.

Such fun. You'd be amazed how many companies make incompatible connectors.

I usually end up asking the LCD distributor to supply the mating connector
and pins ( remeber to order loads of the pins ) or a harness .

I know my way around Digikey better than Mouser so ...

What I use for exactly this is a ribbon cable with a DIP plug on one
end. The DIP plug bridges the breadboard's "channel" for separation into
two rows of eight. Take a look at this catalog page
http://dkc3.digikey.com/PDF/T053/0027.pdf

If you already have pins on the LCD module and need a 2 mm receptacle,
you might need to go with a "crimp individual pin" connector type.
AFAIK, the 2 mm IDC connectors want 1 mm pitch ribbon cable but the
0.1" connectors want 0.05" pitch cable.

Do the single-ended DIP connectors have 2mm pitch ends which will fit
to the LCD? I don't know the specifications of ribbon cable.

If the LCD just has holes (albeit at 2mm pitch) then separate, strip,
and solder the end of the ribbon cable. Ribbon cable for 0.1" center ICD
connectors is usually 0.05" pitch but if you're soldering them in place
then it doesn't really matter. If there's already a pin-header on the
LCD module, and you want/need to keep it, you'd probably have to get a
2mm receptacle into which you can insert crimped (or soldered) females.

The LCD has just holes. I am not allowed to solder yet, so should I
connect what Digikey calls a "header" to it, like a "pin header"? Then
attach a 2mm receptacle to the header, then the ribbon cable to this
2mm receptacle?
