Something weird about that paper. Even installed Adobe Reader v7 (gag
me with a spoon), and it still balks with a "missing information to
form an image" error message.
Uninstalled the crap and it tried to take me back to v5 as dominant,
but I forced it to be v4 ;-)
Perhaps someone can print it to a PostScript FILE, and then I can
convert it with Distiller ??
(I'm interested in seeing it since the BBC "patented" it... probably
discovered what I knew, and used in product, 30 years ago :)
Thanks!

Try the PDF and PS versions here: http://oregonstate.edu/~kolstadj/
(Gyrator.PS and Gyrator.PDF) -- I removed the security from the PDF version
there, so perhaps it'll play better. I'm using Acrobat version 6 and it
displays without difficulties.

Thanks! Finally got it. Had to re-install Acrobat v4 :-(
Adobe has reached a point where they have exceeded hp in the level of
trash they turn out.
Why do software companies have to do that?
Old versions of Eudora are far superior to new. That's why I continue
to use EP v3.0.5 ;-)
Old versions of hp scanning software were wonderful, but won't work
with my new 3970 scanner. The new "hp Director" holds my opinion of
worst trash software ever. I hope Carly Fiorina's departure will
change that, but I doubt it... she probably was canned for not moving
operations to India quickly enough :-(

If you place equal valued compensation capacitors (Cc) across R2 and
R3 and make R2 = R3, the net effect of the capacitors cancels out,
i.e.
(Cc || R2)/(Cc || R3) = 1.
Adding capacitance across R2 and R3 will help stabilize the circuit
without screwing up the Q.
Nice student paper, though.
Perhaps I should take a patent out on this trivial concept.

v6 Pro is too stupid to remember the last save folder. It loads in a
browser and even if you tell it to stay running after you go back,
it'll eventually shut down and you have to wait for the f*cker to
load again. Between it and firefox, I get some weird memory leaks -
sometimes have to close all instances.
I'd like to know how to use v4 reader for reading and browsing and
save 6 Pro for editing. Probably need to hack the registry and that
sounds ugly for that app.

I read it on my installed version 5 it complains that there may be newer
information it can't handle but I've learned to ignore all suggestions
from programs that they want you to upgrade.

It isn't just software.
Do you remember the Intel MDS-800 development system? From that one
forwards, every version of development system was better than the next.
The Series 5 was the one that put Intel out of the business of development
tools.
I think the problem stems from the idea that old stuff won't sell as well
as new stuff. There's hardly a brand of dish soap that isn't "new and
improved". When software is "improved" it often just means that they've
added chrome fenders to the tractor.

They have mensioned how well she did on the Compaq deal often enough that
I think we can say for sure it was that bit of insanity that got her the
boot. HP already had a line of PC that were not selling well because
people had found out they were overpriced and non-standard. It made no
sense to buy a different non-standard overpriced line that couldn't even
be mix and matched with the Vectras.
HP now is almost completely a printer maker. They spin off all the
components and the computer section is a mill stone around their neck.

I suspect that Varian's Overhauser magnetometer's circuit from the early
1960s would be a good place to look for this very same idea. It would be
done op-amps made from low noise discretes instead of ICs.
